Auckland Regional Secondary School Japanese Speech Festival 08/18/2018 09:30 08/18/2018 13:00 AUT is proud to host the annual Auckland Regional Secondary School Japanese Speech Festival again. As in previous years, there will be four categories: Year 11, Year 12, Year 13, and the Open Category. We are especially excited to receive new sponsorship from Nisui-Kai - Japanese Chamber of Commerce of Auckland Inc, with the winner of the Year 13 category receiving a return trip to Japan. You can enjoy a dance routine by Yosakoi Southern Stars, and we are planning with Nusui-Kai to have Japan inspired food, drink and souvenir stalls. We would also like to invite groups or individuals to perform dances, songs, martial art or anything related to the Japanese culture. These acts are not part of the competition, so it’s a great opportunity to show off your hidden talent.Whānau and friends are welcome to come along and enjoy the festival and support the participants.Contest requirements and eligibilityThere’s a slight change in this year. Year 13 students will now have a brief Q&A after their speech, and students with at least one native-Japanese-speaker parent and students who have been educated in Japan for more than two years should register for the Open Category. Speeches should be 2.5 to 3 minutes in length and can be on any topic of your choice. Students should prepare one PowerPoint slide of imagery to visually enhance their speech. The slide, with the title of the speech (in both Japanese and English) included, should be submitted to your Japanese teacher who will forward it to AUT on your behalf by 4pm, Friday 3 August.
